Week 4 Project366 – 2016

Week 4 Project366 – 2016

We’ve a quiet Week 4 –  Messing about with the camera and cinema mainly! Oh and an emergency call for help from oldest son.

Sunday – Oldest son called us at 9:30pm (we hate phone calls late evening, they are never good!). He told us a neighbour noticed the interior light was on in his car and may have flattened the battery. Yep, battery was flat,so we agreed to pop over with the battery charger on Monday.

Monday – Early visit to son and got his battery on charge. Ashley was already in school but Theo was up and around and wanting cuddles. Didn’t take the camera though so no cuddle photos.
Son left the battery on charge until early afternoon and thank goodness it was enough charge to get the car started.

Tuesday – we were going to the cinema but hubby didn’t fancy going out in the rain so we resorted to Amazon Prime.

Wednesday – We went to see Creed after I finished work. This is the latest Stallone film and follows the story of him training Apollo Creed’s son Adonis. Unlike some of the more recent Rocky films – which were frankly shite – this one goes back to the good days of a great storyline. Adonis is a street fighter who wants to get into the realm of ‘proper’ boxing so he seeks out Rocky as he knows that he and his father were friends. Rocky is now running a restaurant after the death of his wife Adrian, he looks tired and doesn’t want to help the boy at first. But of course he does after some persuasion. What follows is a good, heart warming story and like the old Rocky films you end up routing for the underdog.

Thursday – Went to Specsavers to see about a new lens for my glasses as the non-scratch coating is failing and causing the lens to show light halos. A new lens would have been nearly £100 (extra thin) so decided to go for a new pair at £69 which included some thinning of the lens. I don’t suppose it’s too bad as the other pair have been worn almost everyday for 6 years.
We also had lunch out at Marstons Blaina Wharf. We’ve been meaning to try them out for some time and it made a change from a Sizzling pub or ‘spoons. They had an offer of a small plate carvery and a dessert for £5.95, very good value and the food was very tasty.

The rest of the week was spent getting to grips with the new camera and completing some of the tasks from Emma Davies’s A year with my camera.

Week 4 Project366 - 2016

  • Top 2 Aperture priority to create depth of field.
  • Berries close up.
  • Depth of field looking through our side gate.
  • A failed attempt at depth of field. Not enough background to see the effect.

What have you been up to this week?

  1. Mary @ Over 40 and a Mum to One

I’ve really got to print off Emma’s notes and get down to starting these exercises! Looking at everyone’s results is really interesting. Glad you could help your son and good to hear the Creed was good. Might have to watch that one myself #366

  2. Erica Price

I must play around with the settings on my camera more. I like your depth of field experiments.

  3. Kara

I need to take my camera off auto and play with the settings. Love the cook photo

  4. chickenruby

sounds like a lovely week, thank heavens for such good neighbours of your son’s

  5. Elaine Livingstone

I signed up to the course and got my first lesson through on Thursday, but not had time to do anything with it.
Glad the car started and it was a simple problem to solve. Sometimes it is nice to enjoy the grandchildren without a camera around.

  6. Jenny Paulin

looks like your camera taking is coming along very well – i use a proper camera for my food photos but i has to admit is is more luck than judgement when they turn out well lol
Hmmmm dont fancy your film recommendation this week i am afraid – I wasn’t a fan of the Rocky films. however, enjoyed reading your thoughts as always xx

  7. Mummy of Two + 1

Oh dear to the late night call, I am not looking forward to those at all! Your photos are looking great, I love playing with my camera when I get 5 minutes.
