Travel Dreams – Day 25 #BEDN
We all have Travel Dreams – those places that might be on your bucket list.
I’ve been quite fortunate over the past 15 years or so and I’ve been to places some people might still be dreaming about. Hubby and I used to dream of going to Jamaica and thought we’d never get the chance but after his Dad died it put a different perspective on our lives.
His Mum and Dad scrimped and saved all their lives to put money aside for when they retired – and for what?! He died 3 years into his retirement. The furthest he traveled on holiday was Jersey. I didn’t want that to happen to us and as our Silver wedding anniversary was coming up we decided to use a bit of our savings to have a great holiday. Two weeks All-Inclusive at Couples, Jamaica. It was fantastic and we got bitten by the travel bug good and proper!!
After this we went on a few cruises and other holidays. The Caribbean, Mexico, Greek Islands, Cyprus, Spain and Portugal. All paid for by working some overtime when I worked full time. We don’t have that income anymore so have to settle for cheaper holidays now or raiding the savings for when we go visit our son in Australia.
My travel dreams
Mexico – it’s such a beautiful place and the people are so friendly. It would be good to go back to the 5* hotel we stayed at in Cancun and spend more time travelling and visiting the historical sites.
Australia – this is going to be a definite as our son lives in Brisbane. I want to see more next time. Cairns and Great Barrier Reef, Uluru and travel along the Great Ocean Road. I’d love to go back to Sydney too, go to our favourite cafe up at the Rocks and take our lunch over to the steps of the Opera House.
USA – New York and the New England area in autumn, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon
Canada – Rocky Mountain Railway, Nigara Falls, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancover.
Next year 2016
I want to go somewhere for my birthday next year. As much as I want to go further afield I’d be happy to go to Cyprus or maybe Portugal.
What are your Travel Dreams? Leave me a comment, I’d love to know!
