Home Sweet Home – Day 17 #BEDN

Home Sweet Home – Day 17 #BEDN

There are very few people that have lived in the same home for all their lives. I’ve lived in six – two with my family and 4 since being married.

We’re now in our ‘forever’ home – a 4 bedroom detached house. We had no intention on moving to this area originally. Our previous neighbours moved to a house in the area and we popped in to see them. They told us about some of the houses on sale locally. Her hubby took my hubby out to look at some of them. When they came back hubby was enthusing about one in particular.
The next day I went to see it and as I came around the bend towards it I knew this was ‘the one’. I went to the estate agents and was sad to discover it was out of our price range. Oh well back to the search!
No matter what we saw ‘the one’ was always in our minds. We eventually sat down and reworked our figures knowing that our income was going to be supplemented by my new job. We made an appointment to see ‘the one’ and once inside we knew it would become ours. We asked if the builder would consider a part-exchange on our present house and after coming to see it we worked out a good deal and the wheels were set in motion!
Three months later we moved in, it was really tough on the finances at first but I’m so glad we did it. We extended the kitchen about 9 years ago and that’s really the only ‘big’ job we’ve done. Everything else is just general upkeep.
I love living here and can still look at the house and think ‘woo that’s ours!’

Are you in your ‘forever home’?

We are in our forever home, the home that is forever having things done to it. Coming from a building family and hubby being a builder it was obvious that as going to happen! Seven years and counting and downstairs is very nearly done! Then just two more floors to do lol. I am very lucky, I never moved as a child, mum and dad are still in the same house and it is an amazing place, but a complete luxury to have a house like that. x

LOL.. We had loads done on our first house and we both agreed it would be new houses from there on.
I couldn’t stand the mess.. It was bad enough when we had the kitchen done!

Finding a forever home is something I’ve always been afraid of. I’m a bit of a wanderer, and I don’t know if I’d like to settle. My husband is super keen to find our “forever home” though! xx

Ah but you’re still young… plenty of time for wandering first!

good grief, as a child ( that I can remember) I can account for nine homes, probably more. As an adult I am now onto my tenth, not keen on this house or this village but it is a means to an end so probably my forever home.
